For the past week I have been asking myself am I stressed?Today I came to the conclusion that I am stressed out. I then decided that I would write a hub about why I am stressed out and the different ways that we can deal with being stressed out.I also want to discuss how you know when you are stressed out.

There are several indications that will let you know when you are stressed out but you need to pay attention to your body and what it is telling you. This is not always easy for some people, especially the people who thrive on a busy lifestyle. That busy lifestyle could be exactly what is stressing you out.Even though a little bit of stress can be healthy for a person too much stress can cause physical, behavioral and psychological problems.Because everybody shows stress differently it is a good idea to see a doctor when you begin questioning if you are stressed out. This is because you may be showing signs of being stressed out (depressed, anxious, lethargic, twitching, irritable, etc.) but may be experiencing a separate physical/psychological disorder.Too many disorders have overlapping symptoms and it may even take doctors a while to discover what is wrong.

I’m stressed out for a number of different reasons.Mainly because of health issues that have significantly gotten worse in the last few months.I have recently had to quit my job because I couldn’t fulfill the duties of my job with these health issues.I have been filling out forms, collecting forms, visiting doctors, and constantly discussing things with my former boss in order to get on Employment Insurance. This can be stressful in itself if you have never had to apply for Employment Insurance Sickness Benefits before.I find out tonight that I haven’t completed the claim correctly and now I have to call them to inform them that I made a significant mistake. This makes my anxiety skyrocket and my depression starts up because of the anxiety and the fear of having to call somebody on the telephone.Having anxiety because I have to talk on the telephone is disastrous. I have severe general anxiety and anything from having to leave my house to learning to drive a vehicle can set it off. What makes it worse these days is not knowing exactly what is wrong with me. I have been having problems with the majority of my joints and cannot move around most days because of the pain. But I don’t need to get into that. So am I stressed out? I am stressed out.

Now, how do I handle my stress levels and anxiety?I find ways to keep myself busy, I meet with doctors to discuss my medications, and I just try to keep my mind off things most days. I find keeping my mind off things very difficult because most days I am stuck lying on the couch in great pain and not being able to do anything so I sleep.I certainly don’t suggest this technique to anyone as is doesn’t work too well at keeping my stress levels and anxiety down. But it is my way to cope with the pain and everything else. For most people I would suggest finding a hobby you can do to just relax and keep your mind off things for a little while. This could be reading a book, getting a massage, watching the sunset, learning to paint, etc. These things will allow you to just take some time for yourself and just breathe for a little while. If you find that something has triggered your stress or anxiety then just stop what you are doing for a moment and do some deep breathing exercises.
