Golfing and Father's Day

I personally never thought I would enjoy golfing. It always piqued my interest a wee bit when I saw it on the television. I couldn’t imagine me ever playing it or even having someone put up with me long enough for me to figure it out. Well, I did all that and more today and I even found a new sport.

We had decided a week we would take his dad golfing but I backed out because I thought it may be better to go visit my dad. I thought it would be very discouraging and a crappy day if I went golfing since I couldn’t golf. So, the plan then was to pick up some golfing “tickets” on the way to his dads place and give them to him so he would know Adam would take him golfing on a nice weekend for Father’s day.

Well we never stopped to get tickets on the way and Adam never said anything about it all the way there, it’s an hour and a half trip. This isn’t strange though because he just doesn’t talk about things. We stopped to visit Adam’s mom and he just said we were going to his dads to visit, still never said anything about golfing.

Five minutes from his dad’s place he tells me were going to grab his dad and go golfing. My first instinct was well what about my dad? Then I decided okay this might be alright, we have to take down to my brothers for the baby being born sooo that could be my dad’s Father’s day gift. It’s going to cost a ton to get down there and back.

The first few minutes of golfing weren’t good. I couldn’t get the ball to move but they were all in good spirits and just waiting for me to get caught up to their balls. I landed it in the swamp so we dropped another ball and they continued to wait for me. That was the longest hole of the day!

When we got to the second hole it took me two hits to catch up to their one hit. We were all excited though because the game was moving along nicely and I wasn’t holding them up. By the time we got to the eigth hole I was doing real good we were all congratulating each other on our tee’s and our hits. His dad had us shake hands and say “good game” on the ninth hole. Appariently we have a tradition now!

The weather. It was extremely hot and the sun wasn’t even really there. There were some awful rain clouds though. By the third hole it decided to poor on us, we figured it was just going to be a quick shower and there was no lightening or thunder. So, we huddled up near the trees, under the umbrella. We all got wet but it felt nice compared to the heat we were all feeling. We were more worried about keeping the golf clubs dry so they wouldn’t be slippery. It was over soon and the sun came out; which made it hotter then it was before but needless to say we all had a great day.

This was the best day I ever had. My life is perfect right now and there’s no way I would change it or my past for anything else. I say my past because my life wouldn’t be where it is right not if it wasn’t for my past.
